Set foot yet again on Singapore! I literally spent half of my first day here sleeping in; the fact that Jetstar’s exit seats could not be reclined did not help at all in compensating for my ultra lack of sleep the other night.
After getting enough sleep for the day, filling our stomachs with Singapore’s local foods topped our to-do list. Singapore is teeming with places to eat; from classy restaurants to hawker centers (which is pretty much their own version of carinderia but cleaner), wherever you may feel to eat at any given moment, the choices remain endless. But as always, hawker centers win our hearts!
One could already spot two hawker centers from the entrance of the compound we are staying in alone; about two or three more would unbelievably sprout after walking further more down the road. The accessibility of these centers makes it less tormenting for people who crave easily for these local dishes and more convenient for people residing near the centers since they could just opt to buy and eat their meals there than tediously cook dishes in their homes.
One of the things that I love about Singapore is its wide variety of cuisine. It’s as if you would never in your life run out of anything new to eat. For today, we just stuck with the basics: plain ol’ chicken rice + a bowl of chicken noodle soup + pig intestines + a refreshing glass of grass jelly drink each after gulping down all of those, which pretty much is a so-so meal since we have not eaten breakfast before our flight but hell we still came out of the center very much full!
First day in Singapore and I could already feel that I had already gained two pounds or so! That’s why I went down to the playground to do some exercises as an act of payment for being a glutton earlier today. Hope I had shed off some weight after doing my so-called exercises though. =)
